The Hip Mountain Mama Family

About Us, Hip Mountain Mama Family, Andy and Suzy Hawbaker

Hip Mountain Mama is a small Mom and Pop business that strives to offer the best Handmade, Sustainable, and Fair Trade items for your Natural Lifestyle. We have a strong passion for preserving the Earth, raising our children in a conscious and natural way, and promoting other small family businesses. Whether you are a mom, college student, or Grandma, we've got something for you...from comfortable stylish clothing to hip bags, reusable items and good scents.

Our History

Hip Mountain Mama was founded in 2008 by Suzy Hawbaker. Suzy has always had a passion for green, natural, and sustainable products. After the birth of her first daughter she began searching out Organic, Natural, and Sustainable products as well as natural parenting techniques. Suzy became an Attachment Parenting Leader and founded an Attachment Parenting Group in Loveland, CO.

The company was started in August 2008 with a website and a few boxes of inventory in the basement. We have had lots of twists and turns throughout the years but we are proud of the business that we have created. We sell products that are made by other small businesses either in the USA or Fair Trade in India or Nepal. You will even find products that are hand made by other stay at home moms! We have a strong passion for supporting small business, humanitarian efforts, and sustainability. In November 2009 Suzy’s husband, Andy, quit his corporate job as VP of a Bank to join the Hip Mountain Mama team. Together Andy and Suzy operate a true modern day Mom and Pop business.

What We Stand For

Mama

We are the parents of two beautiful children and we believe it is our duty to raise our children in a safe, healthy, natural, and environmentally conscious way. To us Hip Mountain Mama is not just a business but a way of life and our little way of making the world a better place for our children and for future generations.

We do this by…

• We promote Natural Parenting Techniques such as babywearing, breastfeeding, and Attachment Parenting.

• We promote Green, reusable, and natural products including organic cotton, bamboo, and hemp.

• We use renewable energy, reuse packaging materials collected from other local businesses, print all business cards, packing slips & marketing materials on recycled paper, and reduce waste any way we can.

• We support other small businesses including family businesses and stay at home moms by selling their products.

• We support environmental causes through donation of time and money including Andy serving on the local city Open Lands Commission, volunteering for Big T Elementary's 'Cultivation Committee', and Suzy has started a 'Green Team' at a local preschool.
