Botanical Name: Abies balsamea
Properties: Fir oil has been noted to have the following properties: analgesic, antimicrobial, antiseptic, anticatarrahal, and stimulant.
Benefits: Its overall action is considered stimulating, and can be used to bring alertness to the mind, or diluted and applied topically to the adrenal areas or the body in general it may help with fatigue. It is used for arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, burns, colds, cough, cuts, flu, hemorrhoids, muscle aches and pains, rheumatism, sinusitis, sore throat, wounds. Fir needle can be added to a massage oil or cream for sore muscles. This takes advantage of the analgesic property of the oil. The same oil or cream may be rubbed on the chest to ease coughs or asthma
Traditional Use: Fir needle has mainly been used for respiratory complaints such as coughs and bronchitis, and as a disinfectant.
